Welcome to Normanhurst Child Care Centre

Welcome to Normanhurst Child Care Centre – Nurturing Young Minds Since 1997

At Normanhurst Child Care Centre, we provide a welcoming, safe, and stimulating environment where children from 0 to 6 years old can thrive as active learners. Established in 1997, our Child Care Subsidy approved Centre caters to up to 48 children and is committed to supporting each child’s journey through engaging, age-appropriate experiences and a well-rounded early learning program.

Why Families Choose Normanhurst Child Care Centre

  • Three Specialized Classrooms for Tailored Learning
Our Centre features three dedicated classrooms: the Possum Room (0-2 years), Koala Room (2-3 years), and the Emu Room (3-6 years). Each room is run by experienced and qualified Early Childhood Educators who understand the importance of creating age-appropriate environments that foster growth and development.
  • Experienced Leadership
Jacque, our Centre Director, has been an integral part of our team since 2006, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a caring presence to our Centre.  Jacque leads our team with dedication, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality care and education.
  • Emergent Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework
We embrace a play-based, Emergent Curriculum rooted in the Early Years Learning Framework, allowing children to explore their interests while building essential skills. Our programs are guided by each child’s individual interests, observations, and family input, promoting creativity, problem-solving, and independence.
  • Family-Centered Approach
At Normanhurst Child Care Centre, we prioritize family involvement, encouraging parents to actively participate in their child’s early education. We believe in building strong connections between the home and the Centre, ensuring that every child feels supported and valued.

May is brain cancer awareness month, something that has been extra important for our centre this year. One of our lovely staff members instigated a fundraiser for the Mark Hughes Foundation this year, raising money for brain cancer patients, one of whom is a close friend of hers. We encouraged the children to dress up in their favourite costumes and hats, and families to donate anything they could towards the foundation and it’s amazing work helping raise money to further brain cancer research in Australia. This week has been all about hearing at our centre! On Tuesday we had a lovely parent come in to speak to the children about cochlear implants and how these special devices help her little girl hear, acting as her “ears”. Later on in the week we had an audiometrist come in and perform hearing tests on the children. It is so important to check our little one’s hearing, so we can help them should they need it! 🦻 ... Happy Harmony Week! This week our Emu Room has been exploring all aspects of self identity, through the process of self portrait drawing. The children were encouraged to observe themselves in a mirror and draw what they saw, boosting their self esteem by exploring what makes them unique and special, sharing some ideas as to what they love about themselves.

They have also been exploring topics of inclusivity and diversity in their group times, celebrating the different cultural backgrounds found in the room. Everyone belongs at Normanhurst, and we love creating special moments like these for our children to understand their worth as a part of our community 🧡 #HarmonyWeek #everyonebelongs

These are the most adorable drawings! It is beautiful to see them all on the walls outside the Emu room.

Over the past few weeks our Possum Room has been exploring the environment, sustainability and the idea of preserving our natural spaces. As a part of this they have explored proper waste and rubbish disposal, keeping our oceans and environments clean, recycling and taking care of plants. They have been enjoying lots of fun, hands-on activities exploring this learning! 🌱🌿 #littlehelpers ... See MoreSee Less
